I'm a few months post-baby and just need to get back into things.... would like a mile under 7:30. 5k under 24. Just run more regulary.

Personal:

I'm from everywhere. My dad, dad-in-law, and brothers are in the Army. I like chocolate, Nascar (Hendrick Motor Sports), and my husband. We have a beautiful little girl who cracks us up!

Probably won't get to run today... but planning to start tomorrow when the hubby will be home to watch the baby. Just did 30 minutes of cardio kickboxing in the living room instead. Maybe if the man gets off work early tonight, I'll get out for a short one. We'll see.

Went out with the jogging stroller today. So glad there was finally such nice weather. Walked for a while, then did short intervals to keep myself from turning around and going home to early... 2 min jog, then 1 min walk.... for a total of 30 minutes (on top of the initial walking of about 15 min)... Anyway, the total distance was 3 miles, and I probably ran about 1.7 of those, maybe a little more.

Felt okay, but I need to be more aware of keeping hydrated before I go out. I always seem to forget that when I'm getting back into running, so I did get a little cramping. This was my first real time out with the stroller... I'll have to get used to holding my shoulders and arms right while pushing it.. but it wasn't bad for a first day. The little one loved it, then fell asleep, so I'm satisfied with it altogether.

30 minutes kickboxing in the evening. Pretty tiring, but fun.

Probably won't get out for a run today, but took the baby upstairs and did about 30 minutes of toning with a friend. We were both sore from yesterday's workouts, but it felt good to do something.

Total Distance

Got to go out without the stroller today, which was pretty nice.... significantly easier, I thought, (which is actually a little sad because I know most days I'll probably have the stroller in the future). But anyway, I did intervals again. A total of 30 minutes workout, 20 of them running 10 walking, but the running intervals varied between 3 and 6 minutes this time, so that I can gradually get into continual running and cut out the walking intervals. I hate that I have to start so gradually.... but it seems that having a baby can really do a number on your body. The workout felt good though... nice day overall.

Went to the indoor track this morning. Pushed the stroller around and tried to add some more variation to the runs from earlier in the week: Walked 5 min for warmup, then ran 5, walked 1, ran 4, walked 1, ran 4, walked 2, ran 8, walked 2, ran 3... then walked around a couple more minutes until Adam was done and could take the baby while I try sprinting a lap for fun. It was the short track (for 7 and 1/7 laps to the mile), and I ran it in one minute. It felt good to really get the legs going, and I know I had a lot more left in me when I finished. But you know... just over 7 minute pace isn't too bad in my mind, considering that my normal pace is usually 10 min or slower. Felt good.... got me excited for more. So yeah, total of 25 minutes running today, and 13ish walking. I'm guessing probably just over 3 miles total.

Total Distance
1.32

Did 30 minutes of kic boxing and toning in the morning. Then we decided that on my kickboxing days, I should just focus on doing shorter running workouts, where I just try to sustain the running, without all the walking intervals of my longer workouts. So... today, I went out and did 1.32 (according to the Garmin), and it took me 15 minutes. Slow, I know, but I felt good and know that I could have done more if I wanted... so that's nice to know. And it's actually the longest I've run without stopping to walk at least a little bit since I had the baby. Good day... looking forward to a longer workout tomorrow.... hopefully the weather will be nice so I can take the stroller... we'll see.

Went out with the jogging stroller to see what I could manage. Pretty slow, but felt good. Ran one mile in 12:25, then walked one minute for a rest, then ran another mile and a half (maybe a tiny bit less), so my total workout was 31 minutes... including the one minute of walking. It all keeps feeling easier, which is great. Very happy that I ran 30 minutes again!

Also did 40 minutes cardio kickboxing in the evening.

Lame... I know. But I was pretty sore from doing the two fairly heavy workouts yesterday. So I went and did 25ish minutes of toning with a friend, then we played with the babies since they were getting fussy. That's it for today. Looking forward to a good run tomorrow.... assuming the weather doesn't kill it for me.

2.5 miles without any walking whatsoever...with the stroller! Felt good, took 30:32.

Went to the little indoor short track in Orem and did 4 miles running. I felt great and almost wanted to keep going, but knew that might be unwise since I'm upping the workouts so suddenly considering my usual thus far. Anyway, ran the 4 in 47:24 with the jogging stroller. Can't wait to keep going with my training. I'm really enjoying things this time around.

Also did 40 minutes kickboxing/toning with a friend in the morning.

Total Distance
1.90

25ish minutes kickboxing in the morning.

Too cold and windy to take the sniffling baby out for a run today, so went out in the only 20 minute window Adam could manage to watch her for me. So... did 1.9 in my 20. Wanted to get 2 in, but felt pretty crappy after spending half the night in a rocking chair with a baby who wouldn't stop waking up. The crazy wind this afternoon didn't help much either. Oh well. Really not a bad pace for me... I think I just had a bad attitude the whole time because I was hurting and tired. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Total Distance

2.6 mi in 30:55 at the indoor track with the stroller. Didn't feel amazing, but wasn't horrible either.

I soooo did not want to run today. I just wasn't in the mood. But Adam got me out the door, so I told myself I would just do two miles and call it good, whatever the time was. So that's what I did... no stroller today either. First mile was 11:03, then finished the second at 21:31... so I cut about half a minute off the second one......I think.....right???.... I hate runner's math. I thought calculus was fun and fairly easy in high school..., but the numbers that Adam goes through in such crazy ways to figure out splits and paces and crazy things like that in his head just make my head spin... I feel like such a dummy sometimes with it! oh well. I'm glad Adam got me out there to run, my body felt pretty good... I was just a little bored. I think tomorrow I'm running with a friend, so that should help.

Besides the run, I also did 25-30 min of toning with my workout buddy this morning, then walked to the bank and back this afternoon (about a mile total). Good day.

The run you did tuesday was a 11:54 pace per mile. This run you did in 10:46. Not to shabby for not wanting to run.

Went with a friend to the indoor track in Orem with the baby strollers. We ran probably 1.75 or more in 22:38 (didn't keep track of laps)... then walked one  or two miles... then I went outside and ran another mile without the stroller before heading home for the day. Felt pretty good.

Planned for my long run today. I know four miles isn't much to 95% of the bloggers on here... but it's still a lot for me right now. It was a beautiful day, so we drove to the mouth of the canyon for the run. Adam was nice enough to come and push the stroller alongside me and coach me through it all. So we went up, hit the first mile at 10:56, then the second mile was at 22:29, turned around, third mile at 33:01, and fourth mile at 42:49. Had some cramping (mostly during the first half), but Adam helped me with some breathing tricks to work through those.... which was awesome. But overall it felt pretty good. We knocked about 5 minutes off last week's 4 mile run with the stroller, so that's awesome. Good day. I'm lucky to have such a great coach in my very own home!

Just an easy 2 miles through the neighborhood with the stroller. Total time was 22:29, hitting the first mile at 11:24. Also did 25-30 min of kickboxing this morning... so my legs were feeling a little tired from that and from Saturday's longer run, but nothing hurt at all... just felt tired. Good day though.

Total Distance

Ran to the indoor track, and did 6 laps, and then ran back for 3 miles total with the stroller.

Kind of a lame week running wise. I started getting sick a couple of days ago. Yesterday, my throat was absolutely killing me, hence the decision to take the day off for running. Today, the throat feels a little better, but my nose has been running like crazy. Not too fun. So I went out with the stroller, ran a slow mile, then walked the mile back home... just felt like I shouldn't overdo it. Hopefully I'll feel better soon.

Race: FRB St Patty's Day 5k (3.1 Miles) 00:33:25
Total Distance
3.10

Ran in the running club's St Patty's 5k today. It was kind of last minute decision as of last night. Adam said he was going to run it... and I've been kind of sick all week and had planned to try and get a couple miles in today... so I figured it was as good a way as any. So I took the baby in the stroller and ran the 5k. Based on my usual pace thus far with the stroller, I thought a 5k would probably take me 37-38 minutes.... but I started out pretty fast (didn't have the garmin to pace me). I ended up finishing in 33:25 (or within a couple seconds of that). So that was a good surprise. I forgot to check my time at the turnaround cause I had to stop a couple of seconds while a bike came by... then after finishing (and winning), Adam met me with about .25 mi to go... so he helped me keep moving and actually pushed the stroller for a minute (while we went up the steep hill towards the end), then I took the stroller back and finished. Felt good to know that I could do a race at that speed with the stroller. Still feeling pretty crappy from the cough and runny nose... but it was a good race.

Way to go! I saw you running with the stroller, you did awesome. I was too busy watching the kids so I didn't get to meet everyone that my husband did but I guess I'm not in the same league anyhow.

Good job! You say your husband won? That's excellent. Is he on the blog?

Just found out that he is, and I already commented on his race. Keep up the good work.

Ran a mile over to the Redbox... walked a couple of minutes while I was returning the movie (Adam was nice enough to rent Twilight and even watch it with me!... I love him!), then ran the mile back home. Half mile splits at 5:15, 10:32, 15:48, 21:03. Pretty fast for me... especially since I had the stroller... but it felt really slow (at least the first half). It's always weird when it's been a few days. It was a slow week cause of the weather... plus a lack of self-motivation. Glad I got out there today though. I'll do better next week... hopefully the weather will agree so I can go out with the stroller and not feel like a bad mother.

Went to the indoor track in the evening. Did the first mile in 10:43, second mile in 10:32, then the final .2 mi in 2:00. Not a bad night.... I so want the warm weather back though. I just can't bear the thought of causing another round of colds and sickness by taking the little one out while it's so crappy this week. We've had enough colds this winter... and come to think of it.... isn't it supposed to be spring?

One hour of tough cardio kickboxing and toning. I'm tired, but it was fun. I hope the weather gets a little better for the Provo Half this weekend. I'm not even running it, but I don't want Adam to have to run in crappy weather... plus, that would mean I would have to stand there and wait for him in crappy weather... with the baby.....

Just an easy 1.5 mi with the stroller today (or just over that).... not feeling too wonderful in my runs this week, but it's my own fault since I've let the weather keep me away from training much the last couple of weeks. So I saw the sun this week and knew it was time to get out. But I guess I just have to start slower than I would have liked. I'm just glad I didn't gain any weight back the last couple of weeks... that would have been extra lame. Feels good to get out again... just gotta ease back into it. Anyway, my little .5 mi splits were at 5:21, 10:43, 16:03... then just the little distance extra to get to the house.

3 miles at the indoor track in about 31:14 or something close to that. I had to watch their clock since I forgot my watch. Had the stroller with me, so that's pretty good time for me. Went out with the stroller at about 5:30 p.m. Stomach was feeling a little bit heavy from dinner... but my legs felt good, so I decided to push it a little more today. Just did my fallback 2 mi course out here.... but tried to make it faster. Was aiming for 20 minutes... hit the first mile and turnaround at 10:04, then finished the second mile at 19:34.... so it was a good run... my fastest 2 miles with the stroller so far. Good day.

That's great. My girlfriend is running her first 5k this weekend and I would be estatic for her to finish in that time. By the way, do you live in DC? I recognized the lincoln memorial - used to live in northern virginia / dc for many years.
